Lilypad SMS terms
The messaging program for lilypad.sh. Last updated 2 September 2026.
Privacy PolicyTerms & Conditions
Who sends these messages
Lilypad (lilypad.sh), a subletting service operated by a sole proprietor in Brooklyn, New York. Lilypad texts only on its own behalf. It never sends messages for a third party, an affiliate, or an advertiser, and it does not carry marketing or promotional content of any kind.
Who receives them, and why
Only people who entered their own mobile number on lilypad.sh and then affirmatively opted in on the site. Lilypad never buys, rents, or imports phone numbers from anyone.
There are exactly two messages in this program, and both are triggered by the recipient's own activity:
- You posted a listing, and someone applied to it.
- You applied to someone's listing, and that person accepted you.
Sign-in codes are a separate verification service and are not part of this program.
How you opt in
On the web, at lilypad.sh, in a dialog that appears only after you have already finished what you came to do — after your listing is published, or after your application has been sent. There is no opt-in on the phone-number screen and none on the verification-code screen. Nothing you do to sign in, publish, or apply asks for or depends on message consent, and the sign-in code itself is a separate verification service that is not part of this program.
Both dialogs are shown below exactly as they appear in the app — the same title, the same wording, the same unchecked checkbox and the same two buttons. They are reproduced here because the dialogs themselves appear after you have signed in with your own phone number, so this page is where they can be read without an account.
The two controls below are live, so the opt-in can be checked rather than taken on trust. Both boxes start unchecked. "Yes, text me" is disabled until you tick one, and becomes enabled the moment you do — untick it and the button goes back to disabled. Nothing here sends a message, stores a number, or records consent; it is the same control the app renders, put on a page that needs no account so it can be inspected.
1. After you publish a listing, on your own listing page:
Want a text when someone applies?
Your listing is live. Lilypad can send you a text message the moment somebody puts their name in, so you don't have to keep opening the page to check.
"Yes, text me" does nothing until the box above is ticked. The box is never ticked for you.
2. After you apply to a listing, on the confirmation screen:
Want a text if you're accepted?
Your application is in. Lilypad can send you a text message if the poster picks you, so you don't have to keep opening the page to check.
"Yes, text me" does nothing until the box above is ticked. The box is never ticked for you.
Ticking the box is optional, and it is not a condition of using Lilypad. It starts unchecked and nothing ticks it for you. "Yes, text me" and "No thanks" are equally weighted, and tapping outside dismisses the dialog. Because it appears only after the listing is live or the application is sent, it cannot affect whether either one happens. If you decline you keep the listing or the application exactly as it is — you simply won't be texted, and you'd check your listings and applications on the site yourself. Both pages show every answer you'd otherwise be texted about. You are asked once, and never again once you have opted in.
Everything above is reproduced word for word from those screens. It is on this page because this page is plain HTML that needs no login and no JavaScript: lilypad.sh is a single-page app, so fetching a form's own URL returns an empty shell rather than the form, and the dialogs themselves are only reachable once you have verified your own phone number.
Those two dialogs are the only ways to opt in; there is no keyword opt-in. START, YES and UNSTOP are honoured only so that someone who has opted out can resume.
What the messages look like
Lilypad: Priya is interested in your Bushwick listing. Review: https://lilypad.sh/l/sunny-room/applicants Reply STOP to opt out.
Lilypad: Dana accepted your interest in Bushwick. They have your contact info and will reach out. Reply STOP to opt out.
Frequency and cost
Frequency varies, because every message answers something that happened on your own listing or application — typically a few messages per month or fewer. Message and data rates may apply. Lilypad itself is free.
Stopping, and getting help
Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them. You will get one confirmation and nothing after that. CANCEL, QUIT, END, UNSUBSCRIBE, OPTOUT, STOPALL and REVOKE all work the same way. Reply START to resume.
Reply HELP for help, or email support@lilypad.sh and a person will answer.
Opting out doesn't close your account. You can still use the site — you just won't be texted, so you'd check your listings and applications yourself.
Your number
Mobile information and SMS opt-in consent will never be shared or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is not shown on a listing and is not visible to the public. When a poster accepts you, the two of you exchange contact details so you can talk directly — that exchange is the product, it happens only on that person's deliberate action, and it is not a transfer to any third party for messaging.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported on all major U.S. carriers.
